Add, Edit, or Delete a Potential Opportunity

You should prioritize targeted accounts and targeted solutions (examples of which are indicated below) when creating potential opportunities.

To add a potential opportunity to your opportunity map, do the following:

  1. Click the blue cell in the relevant intersection (or the + Add button if you are adding the potential opportunity in a whitespace).

    This opens the Potential tab on the intersection dialog.

  2. Click the Create Potential button.

  3. Specify the following information:
  4. Field Description
    Row

    Select the row to which you are assigning the potential opportunity.

    The read-only Account field is updated accordingly (as is the Division field if you selected a division row).

    Solution The column where the potential opportunity will be added.
    Name Name of the potential opportunity.
    Amount The value of the potential opportunity.
    Currency

    The currency in which the potential opportunity is denominated.

    This field is only displayed for multi-currency orgs. For more information, contact your administrator.

    Description

    Notes about the potential opportunity, such as the period when the opportunity is expected to be qualified.

    These notes apply only to the potential opportunity. They are not copied into the current opportunity if the potential opportunity is qualified.

    The notes are not included in a Powerpoint export of the plan.

  5. Click Save to finish.

Editing or Deleting a Potential Opportunity

To edit or delete a potential opportunity:

  1. Click the blue cell in the relevant intersection.

    This opens the Potential tab on the intersection dialog.

  2. Click Edit (2) or Delete (3) as appropriate. (The Qualify icon (1) enables you to convert the potential opportunity into a current opportunity..)

  3. If you're editing the opportunity, make your changes and click Save.

    Note: You can change the row of a potential opportunity in the following scenarios: 

    1. From a division row to its parent account row or vice versa.
    2. To the same account if it is displayed elsewhere in the plan

    If you're deleting the opportunity, click Delete to confirm the deletion.
